Why ringlock for a bridge deck
A cast-in-place deck puts a concentrated load on a temporary structure that will be dismantled in a few months. Ringlock tolerates that: the rosette lets a ledger or brace connect at eight positions around the standard, so the bracing pattern follows the actual load path instead of a fixed frame grid.
For marine and tidal work the system can be supplied hot-dip galvanised, which is what separates a reusable fleet from one that corrodes after a single project.
Components
| Component | Size / grade | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Standard (vertical) | Ø60.3 × 3.2 / Ø48.3 × 3.2, Q355B | Main vertical load path, rosettes at 0.5 m |
| Ledger (horizontal) | Ø48.3 × 2.5 / 2.75 | Connects standards, carries bearers |
| Diagonal brace | Ø48.3 × 2.5 | Lateral and longitudinal stability |
| Rosette | 8-hole, welded to standard | Four-way connection node |
| Adjustable base jack | Ø38 × 600 mm | Level setting on uneven ground |
| U-head jack | Ø38 × 600 mm | Support of bearers and soffit |
| Starting collar | Bolt-fixed | Sets the first ledger level |
| Access ladder and hatch | With safety gate | Safe access between levels |
| Toe board and guardrail | Steel or timber | Edge protection at working level |
Design basis
- Fabricated to JGJ 231 (ringlock scaffolding safety standard); for US projects, designed and documented to OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L and ANSI/ASSP A10.8, and on request to EN 12810 / EN 12811
- Tube and plate to GB/T 1591 Q355B; ASTM A572 Gr.50 equivalent available for US orders
- Leg load depends on the bracing pattern, lift height and base condition — we quote against your layout, not a blanket figure
- Standards are straightness-checked and rosettes are welded on a jig so ledgers seat without force
- Hot-dip galvanising is the default finish for marine sites; painted finish available for dry works
Typical applications
Cast-in-place deck soffit support; pier cap and crosshead falsework; marine working platforms over water; temporary access towers at abutments; formwork support for culverts and retaining walls.
What we need to quote
A plan layout with deck height, the beam or soffit level, and the design leg load if already calculated. If there is no layout yet, send the deck geometry and we will propose a grid for your engineer to check.
Questions we get
Can you supply the full falsework or only the standards?
Full system: standards, ledgers, braces, jacks, U-heads, access and edge protection. Partial supply is also possible if you already hold a fleet of one diameter.
Is the galvanised version much more expensive?
It carries a premium per tonne, but it is the only version that survives tidal splash zones for repeated use. For a single short project in dry conditions, painted is the cheaper choice.
